Chatterbox Falls

                SUMMER OF 2011

Chatterbox Falls can be seen at the head of Princess Louisa Inlet on the west coast of British Columbia (see map) and is part of the Loguits River that runs into the inlet. The area is managed by BC Parks marine park system with the cooperation of Princess Louisa International Society. Upstream is the famous James Bruce Falls which is claimed to be the tallest water fall in North America.

The magnificent granite walled gorge leading up to the falls rise sharply from the water edge 2100 meters (7000 feet) and down 500 feet under the water. We were able to get close enough to actually touch the rock and look straight up and not see the top. In the dinghy we passed under small waterfalls enjoying a very cool shower. We counted over forty lesser waterfalls as we sailed up the inlet to the head of Chatterbox. The rocks at the falls are very slippery and as you can see from the caution sign not all people heed the warning.

The area is very scenic and must be visited to fully appreciate. It has been voted the most scenic anchorage in the world. It is only accessible by boat or float plane.
